I didn't have any problems till I upgraded both systems (server and
client) to amanda 2.5.0 and the .amandahosts file remained unchanged.
Before doing the upgrade, I was running amanda 2.4.5 and everything was
fine.

I'm running amanda 2.5.0 on the server and so on the client.
My .amandahosts on the client looks like:

I can read this file that

Do you have runtapes 1 ?
Or do you run amdump multiple times a day?
Amanda uses sometime more than 1 tape per run. That's why vtape-7 was
again next. So even if I would have defined runtapes 1, Amanda would

Hi,
After upgrading a client to amanda 2.4.5 on a RH9 the following
problem has occured:
I have 115 DLE for that client, and since upgrading, 14 volumes
faile to be backuped. The *same* 14 volumes.
I'm getting this:

of the these 14 volumes appear in sendsize.*.debug
so I can't offer you any details.
I've erased all the other DLE's from the 'disklist' and left only these 14
volumes. The backup went fine without any errors.
What could be the problem?

My question is: does amanda take some info from /etc/profile or the users

Any help would be apreciated.

This server has to be backuped and it's mapped on LDAP. I'm trying to
avoid a huge amount of LDAP queries (which I guess slow amanda down)

not an arcserve-guru...;-), arcserve uses a propietary
format to store the data onto tape.
So you will have to install arcserve to restore from this tpes.
I'm not aware of any other tool to restore from these tapes.

I see:

How do I set hardware compression on in my amanda.conf? Or where do I
set it on?
