I've not been able to get one of my clients to back up using vxdump.
Another, similarly configured client has no problem. Amcheck reports the
following on the bad client ...
Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
ERROR: host.domain.edu: [could not access /dev/vx/rdsk/var
ppy to send logs to anyone who would care to help me out with
this.

Thanks to input from several Amanda gurus I fount that my permission
denied error is due to the fact that Amanda is attempting to ufsdump a
vxfs filesystem. The FAQ says that to enable vxdump support that Amanda
has to be compiled on a machine with Veritas so it can find it. Both the

I am getting an error on one of my client boxes whenever Amanda tries to
back it up. Running amcheck returns the following error:
Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
ERROR: : [could not access /dev/vx/rdsk/var (/var):
Permission denied]
ERROR: : [could not access /dev
I attached a new external DLT to my E450 and rebotted with "boot -r".
When I enter "mt status" it shows me the DLT, but if I try to write to
the tape I get an I/O error. What else do I need to do to configure the
tape drive? This server also has an internal DAT drive.

I'm doing my first test of amrecover (amdump ran fine) and I get an
error "amrecover: cannot connect to : connection
refused". I tried amrecover as root with all the command line options
set except tape device.
I have the .amandahosts file set on both the tape server and the client
