Hi list,
I'm trying to setup amanda to backup 52 weeks with incremental daily and
every week a full backup. My amanda.conf shows like:
dumpcycle 7
runspercycle 5
tapecycle 55 tapes
for sure I'm doing something wrong .. what is it?
when I run amadmin to check the due date for each disk I get:
Du
hmm ... I see .. but I thought amanda was able to load whatever tape
needed. am I wrong? another info, I'm using vtapes.

it's a text file with some network configuration, nothing else. I doing
some tests with amrecover because I don't want to run into problems when
the real recover show up.
thx,
sergio

Hi List,
when trying to recover a file using amrecover I get this error message:
Continue [?/Y/n/s/t]?
EOF, check amidxtaped..debug file on bkpserver.
amrecover: short block 0 bytes
UNKNOWN file
amrecover: Can't read file header
extract_list - child returned non-zero status: 1
what is it?
thx,
Hi list,
I did some thinking last night and here is my conclusion:
wouldn't be easier to have all the 52 weeks backed up using level 0
instead of having two configurations (daily+monthly)?
I mean, the total of space utilized will be the same at the end.
I can setup amanda to look for the vtapes

Hi list,
I'm starting to play win amanda (2.4.4p2) on rh9 and using external hard
disk as virtual tapes. I was wondering how do I setup amanda to be able
to retrieve a 1 year old file? in other words, I want to have 1 year bkp
with level 0 weekly. If someone has any other idea .. pls share.:-)

Hi all,
I'm using amanda-2.4.2p1 and I used to compile ./configure
--with-portrange=1000,1005 --with-udpportrange=850,854
--with-user=amanda --with-group=disk
but ... when I'm trying to do a backup my firewall response:
--cut--
DENY eth2 PROTO=6 207.245.14.66:3267 207.245.14.71:32886
--cut--
Hi,
I'm using amanda 2.4.2p1 on linux redhat7. So, I have a lot of
clients and when I try restore some "disk" I must to locate the tape
(using mt -f /dev/st0 fsf N) before use the amrecover . .that's correct
? is there another way to do that ?
Sergio
Hi,
first of all thanks for the people that help me. So, now I'm trying

/usr/local/libexec/sendbackup

---cut here---
service amanda
