Some things to check:
1. Is .amandahosts on the client, on the server, or both?
2. Would it work if you replaced the IP address with the server name that appeared in amandad.debug?
3. Do you need to add a

I would have grabbed the latest CVS sources. I know there have been
some fixes since that snapshot. See the FAQ for instructions if you're
not familiar with how to do this.
