I am using the latest version of Amanda on version 2.4.2p2 on Linux 7.
If I want to backup 5 days a week which means 4weeks *5days=20 runs per cycle.
I am planning to use 30 tapes, just in case which means I should use "tapecycle 30
tapes" However I read that this is only meaningful if I have a tape changer which I do
not have so I should use "tapecycle 1 tapes".

dumpcycle 1 week
bumpdays 1
bumpsize 2000 mb
bumpmult 2
runspercycle 20
tapecycle 30 tapes

To summarize, I would like to backup 5 days a week with Friday being full and
Mon-Thurs as incremental. Since I have "bumpdays 1" then each backup will increment to
the next level and will back up only those files which have changed since the most
recent level. If Friday is level 0 then Monday will be level 1 and Tuesday will be
level 2, etc.

Now let's say that I want to perform differential incrementals instead.
Meaning that only cumulative files changed since the last full backup are backed up.
If file "a" was changed on Monday and file "b" was changed on
Tuesday, then the backups on Tuesday should contain files a and b.
If I want to do this then my bumpdays should be "bumpdays 1000" which sets the minimum
days at each level to 1000 days. This way I can ensure that all subsequent backups
from mon-thrus will be at level 1 which means any files changed since Friday will be
included in the incremental backups throughout mon-thurs. Is there another way to
achieve the same result?

Thanks.
