In general, *dump programs only want to work with the entire file system.
If you want finer control than that, you'll have to switch to GNU tar.

I've got an xfs partition on an IRIX box that is a bit over 15gb and includes
a couple of swap files on it. I would like to back up the 3 directories that
are in the partition seperately (and ignore the swapfiles, of course), so
in my disklist i have
/mountpoint/dir comp-user
/mountpoint/dir2
