is it possible to do a backup more than once a day?
I have a mailserver with quite a lot of mails every hour which is
businnes critical.
is there some way to instruct amanda to backup the maildirs for example
every 2 hours???

Sure, make sure 'usetimestamps' is true, and then run Amanda every 2
hours from your crontab.
