No, they're also in alphabetical order on the printed tape labels. I
looked into changing that behavior, but quickly got side-tracked/lost...

I believe that's correct.
However, you can also use "amadmin find ..." to get the file
number, or you can run "amtoc". If it's the most recent tape, you can
also use "amadmin info ...".

Not true. The mail reports are sorted. There is no corelation between
the report sequence and the file sequence on the tape (I know this for a
fact from today's experiment). Maybe the printed version doesn't sort
them. I will have to try it. Thamx
