Thanks, you were correct, in the amanda file in xinet.d I had "lib" instead of "lib64" in the path. Fixing that and bouncing xinetd solved the problem. I appreciate everyone's help. I guess I was too hung up on the 32 bit boxes to even give this a second thought. Embarrassing but I'm glad
