Had the same issue, was about to give up on FuzzyOcr, but as pointed out, my
gocr path was wrong. was in /usr/local/bin, so I symlinked it to /usr/bin and
Voila!!!

You can set your MTA to strip any extra spaces on email addresses, dont know
about postfix, but you can use some perl expression on exim to do this.
