Hi List,
I posted this a couple of days ago on the SA-user list, but haven't received
any feedback. I know that it's not Amavis functionality but still hope that
someone might have a clue of what's causing this in this list, even if it's
a bit OT.
The setup consists of 2 spam-eating servers runni

Hi James,
Check the examples found in amavisd.conf-sample:

$undecipherable_subject_tag = '***UNCHECKED*** '; # undef disables it

Hi all,
Just wanted to let the list know that multiple vulnerabilities have been
found in Clamav.

Dave,
If you want to read it from a file, just substitute the existing with:
@local_domains_maps = ( read_hash("/etc/mail/amavis/local_domains") );
In that file, just add the domains, one / line.

Hi all.
This might be better suited for the SA-list, but I don't know if Amavis
is a playing a role here so I'll give it a try here as well.
I'm occasionally seeing amavis processes that hang for 10 minutes,
utilizing 100% CPU due to some SA issue. After 10 minutes an error shows
in the log:
Please ignore this, it was a sendmail issue. It works as expected now !

Hi All.
I've just reinstalled our test environment and I can't seem to get the
bounce notifications sent out. Everything else seems to be working as
expected. Our setup is RHEL5, Amavis 2.5.2 and sendmail 8.13.8 in a
milter pre-queue setup.
I've done some copy & paste from our "old" amavisd 2.
Unless you want to block emails solely based on the RBL response, do it in SA.
Then the response will add to the total score, which is the preferred way
(AFAIK).

A quick follow up, if I use the same config and setup with 2.5.0 it
works. So it has to be something in 2.5.1 that has changed, but I can't
figure out what. Any ideas?
Thanks all.

Hi all,
I've just reinstalled our staging area with the latest amavis release
etc on RHEL5. I've created the mysql-db according to README.sql-mysql to
be used with the SQL Logging features (not quarantine).
I keep getting the error below, any ideas why am_id is null?

Hi all,
I'm planning for an upgrade of our existing RHEL3, sendmail-milter+amavis
setup handling roughly 130,000 messages/day.
I know this might be more about SA than amavis, but it's such a good list!

Do you have the correct permissions set?
In other words, if you run clamav as user 'clamav', does that user have
permissions in /home/amavis/?
I run clamav as the 'amavis' user myself.

Hi Adam,
We're using Amavis-milter with RHEL 3.0's Sendmail version 8.12.11 and
it's working great. 80,000 emails/day on 2 servers with SA (incl.
network tests, DCC and Bayes SQL) and 2 virusscanners.

Martin

Hi Jim,
I think this is a known bug/issue in Net::Server 0.88. A workaround is
to start Amavisd with the correct user in the startup-script, or to
switch version. I'm running version 0.90 on RHEL 3.0 Update 6 without
any problems.

Hi,
You can share one database for >1 SA "clients". We have a machine acting
as Mysql database for both SA and Amavis (SQL Logging) for 2 mailservers
running Amavis/Sendmail and it works very well.
With roughly 80,000-120,000 mail / day the database is handling ~250 sql

One database is used for all mail that passes through amavisd-new, the
data belongs to your amavisd-new user (probably 'vscan' or 'amavis').
If you have a fairly high amount if incoming mail, or more th
Is the directory still owned (or at least writable) for the Amavis user?
Has the /var-filesystem gone bad and remounted itself as read-only?
Start amavisd with the debug-sa and debug option to see get more info.

Hi all,
I have seen a couple of spams bypass our spamassassin scan because they
are larger than the 200KB default $sa_mail_body_size_limit. I'm thinking
about raising that limit to 512KB. If anyone have raised it, what size
have you configured it to? Has it done a huge impact on the load?

Anne,
Try to install all the needed modules using CPAN. The CPAN module will
automatically install dependencies as well.
sh %>perl -MCPAN -e shell
cpan> install Archive::Zip
I did it this way on our RHEL 3.0 servers and it worked like a charm.

Hi Luke,
I suggest you take a look at the SQL Logging feature that Mark
introduced in the latest version of Amavisd. With information in the db
containing to/from/size/subject/score you can put together a PHP (or
Perl) script that will pull out all the statistics you'd like.
I've put togethe
Start the script with
sh -x /etc/init.d/amavis start
Then you can follow exactly what the script is doing and then hopefully
solve it.

I'm experimenting with the SQL logging feature, a great thing!
In the current setup I can see the spam score (msgs.spam_level), but is
there a possibility to also include which rules were hit, and which
score they gave (BAYES_99 4.0 etc)?
Thanks in advance all
