I am not a listener of CHU but I am curious as to what would be the
disadvantage to changing the license from FIXED service to BROADCASTING
service. Are there fees involved and special broadcasting requirements that
would cost a lot of money?

I think the sale is good for about a week.
These are certainly not Green Lees but in a pinch...

And, overall, why do we care about this particular CHU frequency. They're
still going to be transmitting on their other frequencies, there's WWV on
a number of stops on the dial, and inexpensive atomic-type clocks all
over the market that can provide accurate time.

I just bought a Ranger but the manual does not agree with the hardware.
How can I tell if I have a Ranger or a Ranger II?
Mine has a deck with tubes and a pot mounted above the function switch.
No such deck exists in the pics in the manual.

There were basically three main variations of Rangers:
1) Ranger early model - maroon cabinet; no "deck" as you described.
2) Ranger later model - maroon cabinet, has the "deck" , which is for improved
keying on CW.
3)Ranger latest model - gray cabinet & face. Pretty much identical with the

And three is called Ranger II and includes 6 meters and no 11 meters.
1614's not used in Ranger II.

OK, see why these are selling cheap. The sizes listed on the outside of the
package are not what's inside. Supposed to be 1/2, 3/4, 1 & 1 3/4 inches.
More like 7/8, 1 1/16, 1 5/8 and 1 11/16. Also. something very starange
with the smallest of the two drive bolts supplied. Still worth 1

Pete: In times past, CHU has been the 40 Meter Frequency Calibrator for me
and I am sure many others. Also propagation marker etc. Outdated,?? Perhaps
but it would be like a chair in the dark to me, dont move it.
PS, it keeps good time and I learned a few clean French words from it. HI.

I think Dennis is correct. The
sizes listed are conduit size, not hole size. Good thinking, Dennis.

Hi Mark - I saw some of the comments about conduit etc.
I have a set of these and they work fine for homebrew chassis
work, at a fraction of the Greenlee price. I like 'em!

Ranger 2 had 6 meters. There were several revisions of the Ranger 1. I have
an original issue and am up dating it to add PTT and other modulator mods.
There was also a keying mod and a bias rectifier mod.
Healthfully yours,
