Try removing the meter and carefully take the face off.
Look between the coil and surrounding core for bits of metal
or debris that should not be there.
If there is anything, you should be very careful here,
remove the debris and reassemble the meter. Do not use
compressed air or any
I have the multimeter on my amp(sb-220)that sticks above zero. I tried

The idling modulator plate current on mine drifts too. From a cold start,
it usually shows below the normal 40 ma per tube. Sometimes it starts out
at a little over 40 ma total, but after a few minutes it climbs upwards to
the normal value. I suspect some of the resistors on the driver board
