Thanks to all for the info on where to get a potentiometer. I finally figured
a way of doing things with a series resitor of about 10 watts and a 10k
Potentiometer. This network seems to handle the current in the circuit quite
well because of the very high wattage resistor used in series. I
This Mod is a very good idea. It might be noted however that most
horizontal output transistors have very high voltage ratings but do not have
a lot of current gain (BETA). BETA is the output current divided by the
Base Current. Transistors with higher current gain are available; just

I second that! I've ordered several rocks from Bry. He is a straight

Any of the old ARRL of West Coast Radio books has schematics for triode amps.
Here is a little something using a similar tube that was popular in the surplus

It needs a little work, but I'm looking to sell this 450T amplifier,
*with* a good working 450TL.
See pictures at http://w5omr.shacknet.nu:81/~w5omr/hamstuff/450T-amp/
and contact me off-line, if interested.

Wow, Brian - I have to echo Rick's comments, that has got to be the
cleanest BC-1T I've ever seen. The two I was offered back in the late
80s wouldn't hold a candle to it, and one of them
