Seems to me these types of advertisements were quite popular back in the
50's and 60's. I remember National, Hallicrafters, and several other
manufacturers using this type of ad in QST, CQ, and 73 mags. It clearly
states at the bottom that it's an advertisement. What's the big deal?

Excellent idea, Ron. I hope they take you up on the offer.
I especially enjoyed your point, "QST is in business to sell advertising and
to promulgate any initiative which increases advertising revenue regardless of
how it affects the membership."

There used to be a group that operated AM on 50.4 and 144.4 here in the Puget
Sound area.
I have been wondering if any of these people may be reading this list?

The stock Valiant used 600 Volts for the HV section. According to the
book CCS is 480 and ICAS is 600 volts for Class C modulated RF amp.
Given the duty cycle of ham transmitters using 600 volts is safe. They
actually will stand more than that. The Apache/DX 100 used about 750
volts loaded,
Greg,
Thanks for the advice. I'll check out the AES website. I'm thinking you're
referring to the Hammond 124D or 124E interstage driver xfmrs they sell.
My Valiant uses the 12AU7 driver tube just like your Ranger but mine feeds a
pair of 6146's whereas your Ranger uses 1614's. I'm not enough o

About a year ago I fixed a Ranger with one of the transformers from Antique
Electronics supply. I think what you're looking for is a common 3:1 or 4:1
interstage with a center tap. Right?
Go to the Tubes and More website and they should have them listed there. If

These are driver XFMRs for grids of 807, 6146, etc. And running class AB1.
Nearly any driver tube that can handle a load down to 10K

A guess I should contact a local VEC.
