I spotted this on QRZ this morning...details are skimpy now though. I wonder if
it'll be full duplex? The D7 has a really good full duplex implementation.

Last year at Dayton, where it was not so much announced as broadly hinted
at, I asked and was told that it was planned to have all the satellite
functions of the D7, plus a thorough modernization for components and
features. It will be interesting to see whether they deliver on that.

Between the G7's non-functional full duplex and the battery that decided

Thanks for reading this message. I know there has been a lot of information
on the BB over the past couple of years about operating L and S band on
AO-51; however, I was focused on V/U at the time and I didn't make notes of
the information. Now I would like to experiment with these two bands and

Guy,
Mode-L is not authorized for transmission FROM a spacecraft, only TO one.
So you only need TX capability. Of course the rigs you mentioned will give
you the needed TX capability. A cheaper way would be to find a used
transverter. Note that unless it was designed for satellite use, it will
I asked Kenwood rep, and was told at Dayton last year that it was going to
be full duplex like the D7. Maybe there will be an operational model on the
floor this year. If so we need to try and verify full duplex. See you guys

Hi Larry,
I use EZTimeSync. It is free and you can
I use one of the following located at my site.:
ftp://bristor-assoc.com/pub/Amateur/atmtm22.exe

The first one allows multiple syncs during the day. The second once a
day. You can Google
the names and probably get newer
Hi Larry,
Time synchronization is scheduled in the 'Task Manager' of Win 7.
Open 'Task Manager' and look for the item and edit it. Thanks for
bringing this to my attention as I just upgraded (?) to Win 7. I set
mine to sync at startup as I turn the PC off at night. My tracking

Some of the internet time syncing tools recommended are not compliant
with Win 7 64-bit O/S. I will not be chasing those further and hope to
edit the time sync service that already exists in Win 7.

The time service I use is time-b.nist.gov
