I sold my IC-910H recently, as I had thoughts about going with the 9100. But at that price, I can't justify it. I agree that the Flex 5000 is probably a much better radio (since we don't yet know all the technical details on the 9100). However the cost of the V/U module for the Flex is about

[amsat-bb] Any update on P3E?

2010-05-16 Thread Peter Sils
I am wondering if there is any update to the status of P3E?   I have not seen any mention of it for a long time and wondering if it is built and ready to launch or has the project been put on hold because of launch expenses?   Any update would be appreciated!   73 Peter KD0AA

Watching from the sidelines (with my FT-847 and K3). One of the reasons I held onto my FT-847 was that with the addition of my DEMI 144/1296 xvtr the total outlay (when they were new) was $1600 + $395 ~ $2K. And that covers 160m - 6m, 2m, 70cm, 23cm. The FT-847 IS a satellite radio,

Yaesu should cash in with a new satellite radio in the $2k price range. It would likely be a good thing. Almost $4k for the IC-9100 seems a bit extreme... 73, Mark N8MH At 11:50 AM 5/16/2010 -0800, Edward R Cole wrote: Watching from the sidelines (with my FT-847 and K3). One of the

I guess about as much is relative. Right now, based on sale prices, there is right at $300 difference in the Flex V/U module and a TS-2000. I don';t know about you but $300 is a decent chunk of change to me. Besides that, we are comparing apples to oranges. The V/U module with take advantage

I don't think that it is due to ITAR as there are enough Europeans available to complete the satellite. AMSAT-DL is trying to get government funding for the Mars mission (P5A) for which P3E will be a testbed. They haven't made any announcement about securing funding and now the EU appears to be

In the spirit of the Dayton $5000 challenge I am offering on Ebay my AMSAT framed stamps.  100% of the proceeds go to AMSAT.  I expect nothing less than a spirited bidding battle for these stamps.  Remember we deal with rocket science, and rocket science is not cheap!  Only one bid so far?

I agree with you. Yes there is a $300 difference, and thats why I said it was about as much. For me, $300 is $300, I was just saying the prices were similar; as opposed to the huge price difference between the TS-2000 and the IC-9100. But again we don't have the technical specifications of
