If you live in a quiet area, you might plot all APRS packets
heard on 144.39 anywhere in North America. With 10,000 people
transmitting routinely, a few might just happen at the instant
of a meteor reflection to you
Has anyone used the Yaesu FTM-10R on the FM satellites? Just from looking
at the manual it looks like storing the uplink and downlink frequencies in a
memory might be difficult, but I could be wrong.

I asked NASA that last night. They were not particularly worried that these
1-to-10mm-sized particles would wreak havoc with the ISS - even though they are
travelling at about 80,000 MPH.

I recently bought a second-hand FT-847 and something doesn't seem to be working
properly. The power meter always reads 50 W whenever I key the mike. I
thought that the output could be adjusted because 50 W into a satellite is
excessive.

Space stations get peppered with meteoroids hundreds of time a day. The
design issues have long been worked out (Think Salyut in the early '70's).
In the case of the ISS, the habitable area is small compared to the whole of
the structure and a lot of that structure shields the habitable area
