All,
A reminder that if you have been putting off working through the ARISSat-1
repeater, receiving SSTV pictures, or submitting telemetry, the next few
weeks will be your last opportunity to be a part of this satellite's
history. Since deployment in August, ARISSat-1 has descended about 60 km,
After trying without success yesterday, tried today and just at the end of the
1604-1614Z pass, I heard the SSTV transmission and the multi-language
announcement from Arissat-1.
At 1610-1611, signal was S8 on 145.950 (max El = 30 Deg) with the following:
Kenwood TH-G71 HT
Comet dual-band

Given the current problems with AO-51, should we be listening for a signal on
435.150 Mhz? Could another downlink, such as 435.300 MHz, get switched on
randomly?

A great pass of AO-51 at 2:31PM PST over Southern California - and the West

Anyone else going to monitor/work it? I'll be online on Skype - Skype name is

It is a great, middle-of-the-day pass ... If
We try to include guests to the Board meeting in the minutes. Below is my

There have been a few comments about having the control operators do this or
that. Are you guys not listening or what. The thing has been on its last legs
all summer after the last episode with the batteries and they had enough
trouble trying to keep it going then.

Nope - darn it - nothing heard on what has - for the past 6+ years - been a
great pass of AO-51.

It's unlikely. We think the 435.150 tx is still on a very, very low power, so
if you have a good station you might hear it if the battery voltage comes up
enough.
This week I want to look into trying the S band transmitter. Being from a
cordless phone, it may still work at the lower voltage
Drew: Thanks for the info.I'll use the big antennas and switch on the
preamp.
Kevin: I wasn't asking the ops team to make any changes. I was wondering if
AO-51 might randomly start transmitting on a different frequency. Just
searching for signs of life. :)

Clint, maybe YOU need to re-read Kevin's post. He was not 'demeaning'
anything. He was simply reminding people to pay attention to what the
control ops post here...obviously, most do, but some will ask questions that
have already been addressed.
You are in no position to say 'shame on you' to

All,
With the research and recent heads up by Mineo Wakita, JE9PEL, Allan Biddle,
WA4SCA and Clint Bradford, KCLCS it appears there may be only a few weeks left
to receive and experiment with ARISSat-1/RADIOSKAF-V.
On Monday Nov 28 I will be set up to receive voice, CW and SSTV via the

Did anyone happen to re-create the photo of Lance Ginner holding OSCAT 1

What a great then and now opportunity!
