Gentlemen,
Most of the current cube sats and those to follow in the future all
use data communications for transmitting telementry back to earth.
In order to receive this data a ground station requires a TNC of some
sort that can work up to 9600 baud.
To those of you who are already using th
Hi AMSATs,
I received the news that VO-52 will be switched on in a couple of hours from

Unfortunately the satellite will not pass over central Europe, and I am not

I updated the keps and now when I open satpc32 I get a error message that

Removing the keep file does not fix the problem. Help??

Keith,
Sounds like you have a sat that is not longer in use in the Satellite sections
of SATPC32. Trying and delete the decommissioned bird in between hitting
the error icon. This has happened to me before.

Nick,
Did you happen to use the "backup utility" that comes with SatPC32?
That has saved me a number of times. I try to run it every couple of
weeks, when things are running smoothly.
Then, it's a restore from the same utility, to get things back to normal.
Otherwise, you'll have to try deletin

Hi All,
I am going to host an AMSAT table at the RARSFEST in Raleigh, NC on
Saturday, April 7th (yes, Easter weekend).
Anybody care to assist? We usually can't pull off demos, but hosting
a table with toys+tracking programs usually draws some good attention
and publicity.

Hi Everyone,
Here's a quick update on my G5500 Azimuth rotator story. (Recall that
three weeks ago I stalled the rotator after switching antennas.)
Yaesu Parts USA is still backordered on the replacement motors,
possibly some will arrive from Japan in a few more weeks (or possibly
not). The comp

Hi Dave,
How long does one have to stall the motor before the windings'
insulation starts to degrade? I seem to recall it's not very long (less
than minutes).
With all that thermal mass, and the insulation from the heat shrink

Hello Domenico,

Hi!
I was outside for the 0245 UTC VO52 pass here in central
Arizona (DM43), and heard nothing from the transponder
or the CW beacon. That was a 74-degree pass here,
which should have been easy to copy.

Hi Greg KO6TH and Dave KB5WIA
I have always seen the thermal switches buried into the windings

To prevent short circuits between turns of the windwing is better to

Hi Greg,
Hey, thanks!
Good question about how long it takes the windings to degrade.
Haven't tested this myself, but I'd seen a post a while back where
someone measured current draw on the motor, and found that it's
actually almost the same between normal operation and a full stall.
