Hi Floyd,
Domenico's advice is quite good. I also wrote a section on aligning a
g5500 az rotator from scratch, its at the bottom of this post:

Hi Floyd, KC5QBC
With the upper assembly separated from the lover part of the rotor
rotate the azimuth motor until the position of the slider of the 500
ohm potentiometer comes mid way i.e. 250 + 250 ohm i.e. until it
will show the same voltage of about 3 volt betwen terminals 1 and
2 and terminal
What birds are currently available to use?
And what modes?

Rickey, WA4NVM is operating portable from EM46, he asked if I would post

Agreed, getting something into an orbit of 1250 to 2500 km is key (and having
an SDX transponder that can survive the higher radiation levels).

Thanks for the report John. I was also on that pass, and concur with your

maybe trying to find themselves. Let's hope this is temporary, and due to bad

I will leave Memphis mid morning today.

Oscar 7 has been sounding rather rough on the edges the last few passes in mode
B.
Signals were more distorted then sounding FM.
All stations here in VK were using low power and there was only one QSO at a
time going through the transponder with our usual round table discussion.
