maybe just have 16bits .ico images and do something like :

wm iconbitmap icon.ico
} else {
wm iconphoto [image create photo icon.png]
}
}
would that work ?

OK, a 16-bit version has to be added to all .ico files, then the TODO item
should be marked as DONE.
