sorry, I disagree
the verbs 'to sort' and 'to group' have different meanings, and should
be used appropriately
when it's about 'putting things together' the word is 'group', not 'sort'

Hi Youness,

It's one option LESS than what there is now, two if you count the
submenu, and that's with two new features. If you don't count the new
features, my proposal includes four LESS options.

I'll answer yours too..
group by group isn't beautiful indeed which is why we should keep it as 'sort
by'
the group offline contacts together is good but I don't want to code that, it's
a little bit complicated
since we use one variable for sorting, and we would need to divide it into two

I'm late to this thread as well, and I find the new sorting options
confusing :S
The way I see this is as follows. From a design standpoint, there are a
few decisions that are mostly orthogonal and therefore should be
presented as orthogonal to the user (the way "hybrid mode" works now

The colors that come with the statuses have always made it look plenty

One thing I would suggest as a change as well is in the actual
ordering of statuses.
In my opinion, the Idle and Away statuses should be grouped together.
They're almost the same in terms of what they mean, so I think they
should be together.

Hi all,
I just noticed that we have a really bad sorting of contacts and there is NO
option to allow the user to customize this and I'm
really surprised about that! at this moment, all contacts are sorted
alphabetically but grouped by status...
This looks to many people as if the list was sorted
