You might also try and be careful. It seems that many applications on many hand-held devices, if they are attempting to have a persistent connection with anything such as GPS or internet will drain a battery fast. I realize these devices are getting better at handling such demanding applications but just something to keep in mind. Possibly look for a way to have retrieve information from the internet/GPS when you know it is needed.
