If your photo data is a Bitmap, you can use the following code segment
to insert the photo and it should appear in the Gallery.

    String uriString =
        MediaStore.Images.Media.insertImage(getContentResolver(),
            photo_bitmap, "title", "description");

    Uri uri = Uri.parse(uriString);
