Can you provide instructions on how to do su from the SDK and register
the phone? I tried all settings for AT&T and still not able to get
part the Google registration page.

Hm - well I was able to get the phone activated by connecting via usb
and su-ing to it via the sdk, as described in that other person's
thread. It now connects me to the ATT carrier network just fine - have
made a few calls, and the connection to my home router is up as well.

the information that has been given to you looks like to be for WAP only.
normally, once you enter the correct APN values, you shouldn't need to do
anything more, because the system will detect which network operators are in
range and match your SIM card and use just that.

First you Will need to set the APN. Check this parameter (3G connection
like) with AT&T.
After this, try to connect to Google.
