I just noticed a new box in the developer's console titled: Enable Google Cloud Messaging Stats
This new feature has three boxes for GCM API keys. I went to https://code.google.com/apis/console/ "API Access" pane and used the "Key for server apps (with IP locking)" but it was rejected. When I tried "Key for browser apps (with referers)" it was accepted. I use the key for server apps and not the key for browser apps on my server so perhaps these stats won't be gathered?
