I think the Eris is an under-rated device. My main problem with it as a dev device are its fussy USB drivers. I found it to be troublesome to get the ADB drivers working in Vista but if you can get it recognized, I think it's a decent choice for the price. The G1 is a real workhorse although

Thanks for the insight. I kind of want to go with something that's considered slow, to a reasonable level. That way I can test on an older device, preferably with an older version of the SDK, and also have my Droid X as the other development device to test the other extreme. Chris Stewart

I second the recommendation for Eris. Using an HTC Hero (pretty much the same phone) here for testing the lower end of the spectrum as well as HVGA support. You don't really want to go as low as Samsung I5700, for example. Regarding Windows driver support. If worst comes to worst (i.e. no
