So far the only thing that has been public is Dianne saying that it
was free and a different google developer telling someone to talk to
them off-list about it. (Maybe they are the 'real' contact? I doubt
it, but..)

No but it reportedly isn't too hard to reverse engineer. (Check out
cyrket.com for example.)
