Doesn't seem to be a more normal Android to put on it yet. I ended up
getting an HTC Wildfire S to develop on instead, sadly.
Would still like to be able to use the Huawei, but I am at least able to
debug on the HTC.

I've never seen that error message. My guess is that your device has a
bug. You might give a factory reset a shot, otherwise I suspect that
you're out of luck. Sorry!
