Ok. I am looking for the same thing desperately too and I think that
configuring sync settings is not possible (I mean supported)
Anyway, even though it is not possible, could anybody tell us why it
is not? I will be very happy.

There is no public API for this. Anything you do will break in a future
release. (In fact I know it will break in a feature release, because I just
modified the mechanism to do this in an incompatible way. Which is why this
is private.)
