I have recently downloaded the SDK starter pack 'android-sdk_r10-
windows' for Android development. I have Windows Vista OS. But now
when I am starting the SDK Manager to install the Platform tools i am
getting the below erorrs -
XML verification failed for

i was finally able to resolve this issue.
i am sharing this information as it might be useful for someone else.
i was facing this issue because the language setting on my PC was
'Hindi'.
Once i changed back the Language to english it worked.

Problem solved. It was a local problem in my country, Turkey. dl-
ssl.google.com is not reachable here.
Adding this line
209.85.229.99 dl-ssl.google.com
to host file under windows/system32/drivers/etc resolved problem.
btw, "wrong size" errors were probably because of download limit of
the proxie
What version of Eclipse are you using?
Did you start with this page (http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html),
download the package, and follow the steps below? Then, proceed to the SDK
install page (http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html)? Which step
are you stuck at?

You don't need to install eclipse. Just extract the program in your
program files directory and create a shortcut. The only thing that
needs to be installed per-se is the JDK. The SDK is sort of
independent of both of these. Once you open Eclipse go to Help/About
(can't remember) and go to inst
