When an app is launched from Eclipse, the Activity Life Cycle is different than when launched from the Launcher. I'm just throwing out there that it'd be nice if this difference is documented (if it hasn't been already, though I couldn't find it) perhaps right on the Activity Life Cycle page: http://developer.android.com/reference/android/app/Activity.html#ActivityLifecycle
