Job Description: SCOPE OF SERVICES:

The Database Administrator will primarily be responsible for managing IBM
DB2 Database installations on LINUX and Windows platforms.

The Database Administrator shall provide NYCERS’ Data Management with
technical expertise for administration and maintenance of DB2 shared
environment Databases, working with the application administrators and
development teams to ensure the environment resources are optimally
utilized, as well as participating in other NYCERS’ initiatives.

The following deliverables shall apply:
• Monitor the health of the agency’s Databases and respond to any limit
breaches in a timely fashion.
• Troubleshoot production incidents/problems and operation errors.
• Provide third level support regarding Database connectivity related
issues.
• Plan for and install and configure Database service packages and upgrades.
• Provide technical expertise and mentorship to other Database and ETL
developers.
• Plan for and address security compliance requirements for Database tools.
• Respond to dependent tools support issues that indicate a Database component
needs action.
• Provide documentation where helpful for continued knowledge & skills
transfer.
• Liaise with product vendors and technical specialists to resolve issues.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Eight (8) plus years IBM DB2 Database administration experience, with
minimum of five (5) years of recent DB2 administration on Windows platform.
• Deep knowledge of IBM DB2 Database interfaces to other vendor products.
• Extensive experience with MS Windows installation tools and methodologies,
leading to a significant understanding of how to integrate IBM DB2 to work
with MS Active Director (AD).
• Experience installing supplemental tools such as IBM Data Server drivers
and configurations to meet remote applications and user access needs.
• Knowledge of federating IBM DB2 Databases to other relational Database,
e.g. MS SQL Server, etc.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Experience in developing applications that use relational databases.
• Good understanding of structuring a permissions hierarchy for an IT
organization.
• Experience developing IBM DataStage applications is a plus.
• Experience supporting IBM RAA (Rational Asset Analyzer) applications a
plus.
• Experience on other operating systems such as Linux, with z/VSE a plus.
• Linux administration and installation.
• Experience in Windows PowerShell scripting.
