Hi,

I'm involved in android-x86 project (to run Android on generic x86 Hardware)
in the building and testing of mesa GLES drivers.

One of the drivers (nouveau) is affected by a notorious issue, it does not
support multiple threading and this causes Apps crashes, Android GUI
restarts and even GPU Lockup/PC hard reboot.

The problem has become particularly nasty in Oreo with hwui using
RenderThread,
while in Nougat the problem was almost not visible.

I wanted to ask you if there is a way to let Oreo behave like Nougat,
because avoiding Multiple Threads we may workaround the nasty issues we
have with nouveau,
for example blacklisting the Multithreading for nouveau driver only.

Also I wanted to ask for help in order to identify the gap in nouveau
driver and how to trigger crashes,
because nouveau developers know about the problem, but none of them seems
expert on Android stack,
so if not possible to Workaraound the issue in Android,

my strategy would be to open nouveau freedesktop bugzilla tickets in order
to push for resolution of nouveau driver limitations.
