I posted this to the building group but have not seen it yet, the mod may be unavailable--

----------------------------------------

I have followed along with several of the build threads posted here. I
too have been frustrated in trying to get a build to go. Figuring out
how to configure all the various environment parameters, which version
of the toolset to use, etc.

Can a kind soul out there give pointers to which distribution one might
try and make a generic ARM kernel in? I have downloaded the entire
manifest.git and see all sorts of options but being without a clue I am
thrashing a bit. I plan to eventually be porting but wanted to start off "crawling" first

It does not need to be loadable (except in the emulator perhaps) but if
I could at least get to the point of generating a zImage would be cool.
I have found and tried the tips found in external/qemu/docs/kernel.txt
for the goldfish distribution but running that blows up with lots of
dependency problems like include paths, etc.

Thanks,
Dennis
