Booting froyo on 2.6.37 might need some bionic modification.,
to start with,
Android 2.2 bionic have 2.6.32 kernel headers (
./bionic/libc/kernel/common/linux)
compare against android-2.6.37-rc7 kernel headers (
$KERNEL_ROOT_DIR/include/linux)

Are you sure you're running into a kernel issue? Assuming you've got
the kernel config right, have you tried increasing the debug verbosity
in init.rc?
