I can try putting it in an assets folder then build but I can also see that
there is no assets listing for the package in Angular.json file. When I add
one. I get a schema does not allow an extra parameter for assets.

Hi Sander,
I can copy it manually but I was wondering if there is a build step I can
add in the Angular.json file so that other people who work on this package
don't miss this when publishing their changes.

put them in the assets folder, as that gets copied to dist automatically.
