AP. 11 April 2002. Moldova Bomb. CHISINAU -- A bomb exploded overnight in front of the Communist Party newspaper, injuring a guard and causing damage to the building, police said Thursday. The bomb shattered the windows of the Comunistul newspaper building and nearby apartment buildings and slightly injured a 70-year-old guard. Police on the scene said it was a small bomb, probably made of plastic explosives. The ruling Communist Party blamed the attack on "extremist elements who want to destabilize the country" and are also believed to have kidnapped an opposition lawmaker. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
