  H A T E IS A PSYCHOLOGICAL CLUSTER BOMB

                                               R.K.Kent

The speech of President Bush contained many aspects with which it would
be hard to disagree. It was a statesman-like speech in terms of our
culture. Yet, it showed a total lack of understanding why we are so
hated "out there." It also had an ominous segment that may well
indicate that he is leading the American People into a trap for which
it will pay even more dearly in the long run..

Individual suicide-bombers have been making life insecure
and miserable in Israel for some time , sired by a hate enveloped
in religious zeal. But, why has hate against the United States
escalated to such a degree that 19 men would commit suicide in order to
inflict damage which is at the same time gruesome, specific and
symbolic.? This is the Big Unanswered Question in Bush's speech.
Saying that there is an attack on "our way of life" may sound very
patriotic but it is virtually useless except in marshalling support
for ANY action abroad.. The bomb planners are not interested in OUR
way of life. They are interested in either radicalizing the U.S. foreign
actions abroad or in changing our arrogant foreign policy which
emanates from the Clinton era and its legacy of state aggression
.and, in one particular instance, of U.S.-led international state
terror. Of the 47 U.S. military interventions since WWII 33 took place
during the Clinton era.

By the open admission of the U.S.A.F. General Short, who actually
commanded the so-called "air war" against Yugoslavia, "we were out to
break the will of the Serbian people." What was done to the World Trade
Center and the Pentagon dwarfs the extent of physical $50-$100 billion
dollar damage in Serbia and Kosovo. The Serbs did not bomb the Trade
Center either time. They had done us no harm. They did not even
threaten to harm us through acts of terror in America. . They were our
allies in two world wars, saving some 500 U.S.A.F pilots in 1944. The
Clintonian Hawks bombed them any way. The American People are now
beginning to pay the bill of the Punishing Culture that grew in Mr.
Clinton's Washington..

The level of hate could not be simply the product of U.S.
support for Israel. It has been around, after all, for forty-five
years with only two such attacks within the U.S. borders. The first
World Trade Center destruction, from the ground-up, was a warning, a
sign-post on the road to terror, a harbinger of an escalating hate.

Contrary to most claims in the scribal and audio-visual media, the
second one was not quite the declaration of an inevitable
world-wide armed conflict between Islamic militants and the United
States. Its intent was to make the American People insecure at home
by declaring an intent and a will-to-power to enter into a much
wider conflict. Its co-intent was to provoke the U.S. into more or
less blind retaliation, blind because all of the bombers are dead, many
had false identities and any solid, prima facie, evidence as to who
was behind it is not likely to surface soon enough. By repeated
accusations against an already-known and open Bin Laden and via the
planned hits on specific targets within Afghanistan, the Bush
Administration is gratifying revanchist Nationalism at home and
providing psychological relief for the stored general anger. It is
also doing a great deal more than meets the eye, a subject developed
further below. .

It is also forced to respond to the carnage with a show of force. Not
responding at all, as some are urging, would be even worse. In the
words of one Senator, "God may have mercy for the perpetrators but we
will not." The planners of our Dark September know full-well the
"rules" of vengeance. " We hit you - you will hit back." In the
absence of a fully visible and finite enemy all terrorists everywhere,
Islamic or not, and all host states (most recently "regimes") are to
be "ended." President Bush has just declared the War sought by a
limited terrorist grouping. It will be impossible to liquidate state
governments without harming their civilian populations. When that
happens most of our would-be allies and supporters in Europe will
peal-off the "team." Most of the western European populations have
already lost their pro-American feelings stemming from WWII.and the
reconstruction of Germany under Adenauer. When that happens, the few
thousand actual and prospective anti-American terrorists will multiply
like rabbits. We will not be able to find them and neutralize them
fast enough either. Short of plugging ECHELON into human brains who can
determine who WILL BE an individual suicide-bomber among the two
hundred million followers of Islam? When the shift from organized
terrorist groups to individual suicide-bombers takes place there will
be no victors. The Israelis have thrown at the Palestinians just about
every conceivable method of punishments and humiliations and the
kamikaze keep coming with brutal toll on both sides. There are also two
other aspects, a hidden agenda to which the American People are not
privy and the asymmetries and inconsistencies which will emerge to
reveal it sooner or later .

To this day, very few fellow-Americans know that our war with "the
Serbs" in the Balkans had little to do with the loudly advertised
"humanitarian" mission. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, NATO lost
its raisn d'etre. In order to save it as an adjunct of the Pentagon and
extend it eventually to the borders of Russia the "new" NATO needed
desperately a credible enemy. The choice fell on the Serbs. They had an
army reputable enough to present a target but not strong enough to cause
NATO any real damage. That army sought to prevent the break-up of
Yugoslavia and so NATO immediately sided with all those who wanted out
of Federal Yugoslavia.

The Clinton Administration wanted to KEEP THE WAR in the
ex-Yugoslav space going and torpedoed TWICE (in 1992 and 1993) workable
and even virtually accepted peace plans. The second aspect of the real
agenda was to remove Kosovo and Metohija from Yugoslavia's control,
install a major U.S. base in it (Camp Bondsteel, built and supplied by
Dick Chaney.s former employer Hailburton who gave him a $20 million
bonus upon departure from the company) and secure the pipeline routes to
the Caspian Sea huge oil deposits. There are two main reasons why the
"air war" against Yugoslavia ended after 78 days. . NATO was about to
break up as the Europeans could not take any more of the bombings of a
state and people in another European land, having their own memories of
devastations in WWII. The second was that large anti-war demonstrations
in several U.S. cities were prepared to go on one day after the bombs
and missiles stopped falling. Otherwise, in the words of Secretary of
Defense Cohen, "Serbia will be reduced to ashes." It is almost the same
phrase uttered by Adolf Hitler when the Serbs defied him on 27th Marc
1941.President Bush has identified "terrorism" with Fascism and Nazism.
Whover gave him that line did not do the President an intellectual
favor except to shore-up , for a moment in time, the support for any
action abroad.

By waging a GLOBAL "war on terrorism," the Bush Administration's Hawks
are going way beyond the sporadic interventionism of William Jefferson
. Clinton's own Hawks. By asking the "unanimous " support of an American
People traumatized by the Black September, by fanning the fires of home
Nationalism, they are getting a license from a previously reluctant
American People to do whatever they want abroad and wrap it up
in the Flag. It is a sure prescription for Armageddon somewhere
down the road. But, what shows, with slight chance of error, that Mr.
Bush and his Advisers have learned absolutely nothing from the egregious
mistakes, stupidities and the hidden agenda of their predecessors is
reference in the President's speech to the "Victory" at Kosovo. It did
not cost the "life of a single American soldier." If this "model"
prevails in future interventions there will be very wide revulsions both
abroad and at home and, even if larger numbers of troops are put on
the ground, the results will be rather similar to contradictions and
asymmetries at Kosovo.

In that particular area we had transformed a limited group of Albanian
terrorists and assassins into a "Liberation Army" with which to fight
"the Serbs." We had two active partners, the German intelligence
apparatus and Osama bin-Laden. Some of the funding came from Saudi
Arabia. Since then our Bastard Army at Kosovo has liquidated over a
thousand Serb civilians, it has been destroying systematically the
medieval Serb Orthodox Churches and has ethnically cleansed Kosovo of
about 300,000 non-Albanians, mainly Serbs but also a host of other
lesser ethnic groups. Kosovo is today the main provider of heroin (80%)
to Western Europe, a "free zone" of criminal life and and white
slavery.

Our troops are sitting in Kosovo as potential targets of an Albanian
blowback. The "diplomats" and "negotiators" of President Clinton did not
realize that they were dealing with an intelligent and cunning foe and
certainly not supporters of the American occupation of Kosovo.
Throughout the ages, the local Albanians have attached themselves to the
conquering Ottoman Turks by conveting to Islam. In WWII, they used an
alliance with Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany to implement a major
carnage among the Serbs and force huge population flights into Serbia,
altering the demographic composition in Albanian favor. At Rambouillet,
they suckered-in Madeleine Albright and Wesley Clark. They obtained an
under-the-table promise of independence for Kosovo in retrun for
signing a Rambouillet Peace Agreement rejected by the Serbs as it
demanded an immediate occupation of Serbia by NATO. It is a safe bet
that we will not allow the Serb Third Army to return to Kosovo to deal
with the Kosovo Liberation Army. Some of our instructors are still
preparing its members for terrorism in Macedonia and Serbia, even in
Greece. Nor will we "go after" the 1,500 Mujahadeen settled in Bosnia
the Government of which provided Bin Laden with a Bosnian Passport in
1993 in Vienna. The Mujahadeen were deliberately allowed by the U.S. to
come into Bosnia with Iranian arms shipments. It is clear that the
Clintonian foreign policy in the Balkans has favored its Muslims, in
Bosnia and at Kosovo. There is now a Muslim State with radical elements
in it within South-Eastern Europe, something that its Slavs and Greeks
opposed with rivers of blood over the centuries. There is now another
ethno-religiously "pure" Muslim zone at Kosovo. It is also clear that
this radical pro-Muslim legacy of the Clinton Era will not be affected
by the "declaration of war" on the KLA and the Bosnian Muslim
nationalists flirting with Shiite Islam.

While Mr. Bush has been priming us as a people to accept the "sacrifice"
of young American lives in "defense of Freedom" he will not dare to
generate at Kosovo the body bags coming home with dead American GIs.
It is so much easier to arrest "indicted" Serb "war criminals" in Bosnia
than touch the Mujahadeen. All of this has more to do with the coming
Presidential election than with almost anything else. A President who
barely made it into the White House, whose popularity was beginning to
sag with the economic downturn, the disappearing surplus and the mauled
stock market, was transformed into an Authentic American Hero by a the
first serious but very limited attack at home. And, he has risen to the
occasion by saying that we will not tolerate any attacks on our American
Arabs and Muslims, that we are not against Islam as a Great Religion nor
against the Muslim populations whom he will ultimately have to bomb if
he carries through an interventionism across the board. September 11th
may well have saved a falling Presidency. It has certainly provided a
blank check to our ruling Hawks to do what they please abroad.

They only delude themselves that the Europeans on the whole are
supportive of our foreign policy after President Bush has articulated
their go-it-alone-in-your-face on three or four issues of major concern
to the Europeans. His overt and friendly"humility" cannot mask
completely the arrogance of the new Hawk team. As a people, we will
not be able to survive by allowing our leaders to keep us in a perpetual
Wonderland inhabited by kind and humane men and women on top, facing a
hostile world with which they never had anything to do that was remotely
self-serving, capricious, counterproductive abd even evil in design..The
hate against the U.S. is very real and potent. It is not limited to the
Muslim world. That hate was caused by none other than
the very leaders who wish to keep us in Wonderland, looking for
guidance up to the Great Wizzard of Washington, D.C. who is
manipulated by his own machine, maintained and run by more or less the
same mechanics. To maintain our Democracy we must constantly fight for
it at home. Magister Dixit rulers must have no future in America. It is
now, more than ever, necessary to prevent our governors and the
sycophantic corporate media from doing again what they did in respect to
our engagement in Yugoslavia.

To make it short, they both ratcheted up the factor of hate against "the
Serbs" so that they could do to them whatever they wanted with impunity,
accountable to no one. The media blitzes against "the Serbs" could fill
up volumes. They spell out the cerebral terror and racism that has
turned an honorable people , obliged to fight in self- defense (a right
just reiterated for the U.S. by Secretary Rumsfeld) into sub-humans
(untermenschen in Nazi German language) and neo-Nazi butchers of the
Fin-du-Siecle. Racist demands to this day persist in trying to force
"the Serbs" to admit their would-be "collective guilt." They are still
being punished economically and politically in ways less obvious than
economic sanctions and total isolation. They are alone paying out the
interest on the $22 billion dollar debt incurred by Tito on behalf of
all the units in the ex-Yugoslav Federation. They are in a state of
anomie, huge unemployment, penury and social misery, almost robbed of
identity as a people. That is the legacy of hate but its promoters here
at home never came to reflect upon the possibility that such a
widespread hate campaign against "the Serbs" could escalate hate all
over the globe and not just here at home.Whether it will be admitted for
salutary purposes or rejected, as is more than likely, the Serb-hate
connection is another major if silent partner of hate against the U.S.
This writer was told as much by some of the most diverse people on the
streets of Paris, France, during and after the "air war." None of our
men and women of influence would listen let alone believe this. Yet,
there was one Very, Very Influential fellow-American who grasped the
psychological cluster-bomb effect of HATE. His name is Arthur Ochs
Sulzberger, Jr. the Publisher and Owner of the New York Times and I wish
to salute him openly now.

After a particularly vitriolic article against "the Serbs" by Anthony
Lewis I wrote a letter in response with factual refutations. I knew that
this letter would be tossed into the waste-paper basket as had been the
case with all the others sent to the New York Times. So, I sent a copy
to Arthur Ochs Sulzberger, Jr. with a covering letter to him. It
stated that the time has come for Him and I to stop the
hate-mongering, to stop it now as it was getting out of hand as
hate-begets hate, begets hate. Anthony Lewis never wrote another hate
column against "the Serbs." In fact, he virtually stopped writing about
Yugoslavia for almost a year. Indeed, yesterday "the Serbs," today "he
Arabs," tomorrow "the Jews." It was clear to me for some years that "the
Americans" were becoming an object of widespread hate as well.
