JOHANNESBURG, July 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister
Tariq Aziz will meet President Thabo Mbeki at his residence in Pretoria on
Thursday morning, South African Press Association reported.
Mbeki's spokesman Bheki Khumalo said the meeting had not been
originally scheduled, but time for it had now "been secured".
Refusing to release the topic of the discussion, Khumalo said he
could only tell reporters after the meeting.
However local media speculated earlier on Thursday that they "are
likely to discuss ways of lifting international sanctions against Iraq and
to break the impasse on weapons inspections".
"They'll also discuss possible ways the two countries can help in
the Middle East crisis," South African Broadcast Corporation said.
Aziz arrived in South Africa on Wednesday for a five-day visit,at
the invitation of Deputy President Jacob Zuma. He would also hold
political discussions with the deputy president and Deputy Foreign
Minister Aziz Pahad.
