Not sure if this applies completely to Mac OS X, but *BSD wants you to use /etc/rc.local for starting stuff up at boot times. Just leave out the "-i" option for daemon mode -- or, to make sure it starts up after a crash or something, leave in the "-i" and wrap it in a "while /bin/true" script in
