Regarding the quick vocab add, you may want to take a look at this email I
sent almost a year ago
It's basically a mode in dixtools that allows you to add basic words to a
standard dix file (never tested with metadixes).

When you did make install it probably messed something up somehow. Try
deleting and svn co'ing from scratch.
