You have to go in via FTP and not the website access. Check to see if
you have any of the FTP URLs on your hotlist and start from there. You
can normally "back up" to parent directory, etc. So even if all you
have is a DOS FTP site you should be able to back up and find Linux,
etc.

This FTP site offers a mirror of simtel.net [I didn't go all the way
through, BIIRC I've used this site before]. It also had a lot of
other public access stuff.

The trick is to access the simtel archives using an ftp URL, since
the http version gives you the horrible new design. Use:
