My son's external hard drive with a bunch of his music had a media failure.
I've been trying to extract as many songs as I can, and have been pretty
successful so far, but that's not the topic of this thread.
The drive was in an external enclosure. To have better access I took the drive

I read the article to mean that after the last five year consolidation, ther
There are at least three options for crafting xorg.conf file listed in the
wiki. Which did you use? I have had better luck with running xorgconfig than
the others. You might try each method as they will typically yield slightly
different results.

Hi all,
Arch Linux 0.7.2 (Gimmick) is now available for download. This time,
we've provided three different ISO images for you to use: an FTP-only
image (13mb), a Base-only image (145mb), and
Many thanks to all who took some time to reply. I've learned a few things and
can form a plan.
Your consideration of my question is appreciated!

You know, this is a very articulate response. I was almost convinced until I
weant back and read:
"The recent changes to Arch were executed with such ineptitude"
These words are inflamatory and not hepful. The rest just becomes noise.

There will be a rainy day, someday. Just save it and use it when it's needed.
My 2c (and probably worth half of that).

I installed these files, and when pacman reported that they were already
installed, did I want to install anyway, I said sure.
No avail on this PC.
Thx for the advice anyway.

That's good news! I'll try it tonight too.

This has been a standing issue for awhile. I tried to get some information
from the KDE group, but wasn't very successful.
In my case, it comes and goes. I've tried some of the tips and tricks I've
found on the network, but it never seems to quite go away.
Thank-you! I appreciate the reply. I'll compare this to my notes. Nothing
jumps out at me right away except the settings for horizontal and vertical. I
used more conservative figures than those.
You've been very helpful.

Greetings,
I posted this question to the newbie forum, but no takers. I thought I'd try
here.
I configured a T22 over the weekend with 0.7.1. Having loaded a couple other
desktop systems with the xorg from Testing, I went ahead and did that too.
I've run xorgconfig after the upgrade to creat
I've stuck with the 1.5 revision after getting some hang-ups with 1.6. My 2
systems using ndiswrapper are regularly up for many days, and sometimes weeks
(unless I'm monkeying around with them for other reasons).
Could also be related to the cards being supported by ndiswrapper I suppose.

I'm still usng 1.5, having had problems with the subsequent releases. It's an
easy package to build. I've not had any problems with my system hanging. I am
using an Intel processor, and as I recall, the systems hanging were mostly AMD.

It's incumbant upon users of the testing repositories to be informed. You can
only feed so much.
It's good to have the front page provide some information, but not, in my
opinion, details of the work in testing.
I think it would work to give a more obvious link to the dev blog. It's just

Hi,
Thanks for the advice! I will try to recreate the scenario without doing too
much damage and let you know what I learn.
I've got a solution that is working at the moment.
My sincere thanks for your consideration of my problem.
Kind regards.

I've been able to work past these questions. There may need to be some better
descriptions written on how to enable ETH0.
The souce compilation must have had something to do with changing compilers or
header files somewhere. I downloaded the lastest source (once I got the

I'm probably in over my head here, but thought I would post my problem.
I have 0.7, upgraded to current running fine on one PC. I'm reasonably familiar
with the scritps for configure Arch.
On a different PC I thought I would put in 0.7.1 to offer any help I could to
testing. I'm stuck on a cou
