Guys, thanks for the input. I was able to get it fixed. The issue at hand was that some how grub got completely confused. The state1 file in my /boot/grub was missing for some unknown reason. Using the install CD I was able to coerce GRUB into reinstalling itself on the hard drive. This fixed all o
