I've been using the alpha's now for a few weeks, and they appear to be no less stable than the 1.1 version, very few problems (way less buggy than many kde4 apps like koffice, and amarok 2.0 (was). I'd like to suggest moving it to extra's as a way to remove one more package that needs kde3.
