Fri, 21 Oct 2005 23:07:07 Your subscription to the ECOLOG-L list (Ecological Society of America: grants, jobs, news) has been accepted.
Note: your distribution options have been defaulted as per the "SET ECOLOG-L REPRO SHORTHDR" command. Welcome to ECOLOG-L, a LISTSERV list maintained for members of the Ecological Society of America (and other interested subscribers) by David Inouye at the University of Maryland. This list is for distribution and archiving of information of interest to ESA members, such as job listings, funding opportunities, and discussion of topics of interest to professional ecologists. It can be used to distribute requests for and information, and as a forum for discussion of topics of interest to ESA members. The list is moderated (i.e., messages sent to the list address must be approved by a moderator before they are sent on to subscribers). Because this list is not routinely checked by ESA staff or officers, any direct communication to ESA should be sent to esahq@esa.org. You may also be interested in the ESANEWS list, which is devoted solely to messages from the Society's public affairs office and officers (and has a limit of 10 messages/month). If you are a new subscriber to ECOLOG-L, PLEASE get a copy of the list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ list) and read it. To do this, send the message get ecolog-l faq to the address listserv@listserv.umd.edu You can take advantage of the world-wide network provided by ECOLOG-L subscribers (about 4,000) to pass on information, make requests, or to start a dialogue on a topic such as a recent paper. To do this, send your messages to the list address (ECOLOG-L@LISTSERV.UMD.EDU), not to the list server address where you sent your subscription message. Please provide a brief description of your message in the subject line. To take advantage of the other capabilities of this list you may want to use some of the commands described in the FAQ list. To use these commands, send them to the list server (i.e., computer) LISTSERV@LISTSERV.UMD.EDU (which is the address where you sent your subscription request). To unsubscribe from this list (for this and other commands you can also use lower case letters if you want): SIGNOFF ECOLOG-L To eliminate the second message you get acknowledging a message to the list: SET ECOLOG-L NOACK The default for this list is short headers. To get full headers, send the message SET ECOLOG-L FULLHDR to the listserver address. If you have questions about how to use the list, or suggestions for new uses, please feel free to contact me.
