What steps did you take when migrating? Is everything but the MySQL version the same as your physical machine? Would it be possible to install MySQL v5.1.37 in your virtual instance at first? I don't know if the error could be caused by version differences but you might be able to get an exact

I had a similar issue when I first launched ASpace, I did attempt using CDT but it didn't like that. Appending '=America/Chicago' to the db_url made it happy. This may somewhat depend on what your MySQL server is using, but I'm not 100% sure on that. In our db_url I also included '=false'
