To the beset of my knowledge, membership has never been a criterion for
eligibility to run. It is a requirement to be able to nominate and to vote.
I don’t think this is a change.
What has changed is the behavior of (and possibly the mandate and guidance
given to) the nominating committee.

A slight correction. I guess I didn't realize that you only need to be
nominated by a member in good standing, not actually a member. Who knew?
With that correction, I would still argue that the regulated should be self
governed, antitrust and all.

An alert to cast support came up with a link to do it.

It's probably more than process reform that is needed IMHO. I didn't
realize this changed, but you don't need to be a member in good standing to
run for the board. I'm pretty certain it used to be a requirement. Not sure
when that changed. It appears at least two of three possibly aren't. I'd

There were apparently at least 5 candidates. There are 2 open board seats.
The nom-com approved only 3 candidates, hence my complaint.
There are 7 open advisory council seats. I did not count the nomination list
size, but I assure you it was well short of 14.

Just adding that it is not the first time this happens.
I am appalled by the NomCom’s behavior!

Apologies for posting here, but since arin-discuss is dead and based on John’s

Has ARIN disclosed anything about why the NomCom chose to exclude two
obviously-qualified candidates from the ballot when they didn’t yet have 2
candidates per open seat, and the 3 candidates they did include are all less

Yes! Go vote on the petitions, so you’ll have more than three choices to fill
the two open board seats, when the election comes.
FYI
There's a petition for two people to be added to the Trustee ballot after
being rejected by the nom com. Petitions have been discussed on PPML in the
past. There also isn't a discussion list any longer. Many voting members
are here. We know Trustee composition impacts policy (recall when the
